Refurbished Nightstand | Before + After

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything so I thought I would share a little sumthin sumthin!

Not a super long blog post! Just a little before and after of a nightstand I recently refurbished. I get so many questions on my Instagram about how to refinish furniture. So here are a few tips and an amazing transformation!

The top was pretty rough so I sanded her down to bare wood as much as I could with my sander. The rest of the nightstand I lightly sanded by hand. Just enough to get the paint to stick. For both I used 120 grit sandpaper.

I applied one coat of Kilz primer and 3 coats of Sherwin Williams “Divine White” in a satin finish. After letting all coats dry I sealed this baby with Minwax Polycrylic satin spray. Yes I said spray! On lighter paint colors I like to use a spray because it never causes the paint to turn yellow. You don’t always have to use chalk paint to get a chalky satin finish. Purchasing a good quality paint in satin will give you a beautiful flat finish!

Sometimes I like to use wallpaper or wrapping paper for drawer liners. A hot glue gun gets the job done! This liner here was leftover wallpaper. I sprayed the handle with some gold spray paint and voila!

If you have any questions or comments don’t be afraid to leave one!
